My cousin took this photograph in our village in Prey Veng Province. My cousin was part of the Khmer Rouge but he abandoned the fight. We still wore sandals from the Khmer Rouge, we had nowhere to buy new shoes. The sandals lasted for many years, during the Khmer Rouge I only got through two pairs and I only had to replace the straps never the soles. I still know how to make them, just give me a tire."
