Behind the School | " My friend had a camera so after school a group of friends decided to meet behind our school and make some photographs. We had all the pictures printed and shared them between us."

Face in the mirror | " I went to the photo studio to have my portrait made, when I returned to collect the prints they had combined my photograph into this background. I had not asked for this but when I saw this I was really excited and showed all my friends."

Looking back at fashion | " I loved this kind of dress, my uncle bought the sun glasses for me. I think the styles today are looking to the past. When I see these old styles coming back in Cambodia I get very excited."

Girl with an umbrella | " I attended a wedding in Kratie Province, When I arrived the wedding photographer took my picture. The umbrella was a prop supplied by the photographer."

Wedding Case | " The case contains money and a dress, it symbolises that the husband will look after the wife and whatever he has belongs to her."

At Sea | "When this picture was made we went to the photo shop and asked them to reprint in different styles. There were a lot of styles to choose from. I really liked this background but I am not sure where it is, I know it's not in Cambodia."

Soup Sales | "We went to our friends soup shop to visit her. She had a new camera and wanted to make our picture. Our clothes were not formal in this picture. My friend made us lots of copies of the picture to give to our friends and family"

In Marriage and Memory | " We met in Site 2 Refugee Camp in 1984, we decided to get married. We had this photograph made in front of my directors car. I wanted to remember my job with UNHCR."

The German Journalist and I | " I was teaching UNTAC volunteers in Khmer history, culture and language. We had a visit from a German Journalist who interviewed me about my work, a friend of mine made this photograph."

Teaching the UN | " I was working with UNTAC as a teacher for foreign staff coming to volunteer in Cambodia. This group I remember were from Poland. They would study Khmer language, history, and culture. They would spend 6 weeks with me studying 6 hours a day, once they finished they would go to work in the Provinces."

In The Company of Flowers | Combination Printing of a portrait and a photograph of flowers. This style of photography is still very popular in Cambodia.
